The scar on Skye’s knee is in the shape of a smile
Synopsis
Global pop sensation Skye Riley is about to embark on a world tour and begins experiencing increasingly horrific and inexplicable events. Overwhelmed by the growing horrors and pressures of fame, Skye is forced to confront her past. In one scene, Skye places a VOSS water bottle on a stone/marble kitchen counter and a sound is heard that resembles the sound of something plastic being placed on it.

VOSS’s water bottles are made of glass, which is actually highlighted in the film, so the audio is inconsistent with the action seen. Skye Riley: [to the Smile entity] You’re not in control, I am! A very disturbing depiction of the Smile phenomenon set against the backdrop of the pop music scene and celebrity culture.
It also presents some deep themes about the toxic culture of pop stardom
Skye, the main character, is at the center of this horrific story that shows layers and layers of someone’s life spiraling out of control. We see most of the story from Skye’s point of view, so the film does a great job of building empathy for the character despite all her moral flaws. In the film, “smile” has many meanings as it also reflects the pressure to appear on camera and smile when a person’s mental health is at rock bottom.
It’s very disturbing
His mother, assistant, and fans seem to be reasonable amidst the chaos, yet their actions seem to become instruments of torture. Personally, I feel like Skye is going through too much, and by the end, I was relieved that the film was over. If you like body horror, you’ll love this.
