Synopsis
During the 1972 Munich Olympics, an American sports broadcast crew is forced to cover a hostage crisis involving Israeli athletes. All believable, well-placed comedy and a pace and running time that won’t let you put it down. I’m really interested in getting out before the credits roll. They did a solid job of not telegraphing plot points. Some might find it annoying that the scenes don’t change, but I think it worked in this case. I think they wanted you to feel like the control room is your world, and to feel like they’re there on this eventful day. They hit the political and emotional points well. It’s thought-provoking without being preachy. The interspersing of footage from the actual event, including broadcast footage, is sure to draw you in even more. A nice touch. It’s not a film I plan on watching over and over again, but it’s a very well-crafted piece that I would recommend to friends who enjoy these types of films.
